Create a High End website with little expierence

These days everyone is about “do it yourself”. Everything from home repair to computer maintenance can be done by just reading a How To book. Websites such as Intuit and Godaddy make it seem like anybody who’s anybody can build a website from scratch with little knowledge. After countless hours in front of a computer, I can officially say that not everyone can build a good looking, modern website with little knowledge. But after much research, there is a way to step foot into the online world with a professional website platform that is easier to use and maintain than most.

The website platform I am talking about is WordPress. WordPress is a php/jquery based webplatform that makes it easy to design and develop a professional and functional website that will also rank well on search engines. WordPress is a simple website platform that makes it easy to customize a website. For a small business or the “do it yourself” person, this is the perfect web platform to build a website. It can be designed and maintained by someone with simple knowledge of wordpress. There are a number of wordpress forums that can help anybody learn the basics.

One of the benefits of WordPress in a large list, is the easiness of access to your wordpress website and the dashboard. The Dashboard is whats behind your site. It’s transparent so nobody can see it be its how you edit and manage a wordpress website. The Dashboard gives you the power to create webpages, organize navigation, upload media (pictures, movies, powerpoints, PDF’s, etc.), change the website theme, add widgets, write blog posts, watch website traffic and use hundreds of powerful plugins. The usability, function-ability, and power of the wordpress platform is what makes it ideal for small, medium and even large websites (cnn.com, ebay.com, & yahoo.com just to name a few).

screenshotwordpressdashboardresizeWhether is just blogging or running an advanced E-commerce website, wordpress can handle whatever you throw at it. It’s these reasons that we choose to build our clients websites from wordpress. Its not just useful for its accessibility but because the whole reason to have a website is to bring you business. I laugh sometimes because i look at these gorgeous flash websites that look stunning and can really “awe” a client; But it’s like building a Bill Board out in the Desert. Flash websites don’t rank on search engines and therefore are not good for bringing new business! Good thing for wordpress that it has integrated flash with content building, allowing a search engine to find the content while the client stares at the flash. So not only is wordpress great for design and User-ability but it’s great for bringing business and achieving the outcome your looking for, Profitability! We love wordress and you should to! Modern Website Style & Function

We are currently in a modern website transition. Moving away from the old, simple, HTML based website to a new elegant php web 2.0 based website. This transition is great for business, all the small web design firms are turning profit in this recession economy, but this also increases competition exponentially. Niche markets are the focus of small businesses seeking work, there they’ll find numerous small budget jobs in volume. Small businesses across the nation are transitioning to the 2.0 web that allows customers to find a business over different communication avenues such as: Facebook, Twitter, City Search, Google Locals, youtube, etc. These different sites can all generate traffic for a business, increasing the number of sales that a company can do monthly. That is why it is essential for a small business to have the latest website and online marketing campaign. Here are some styles that a Web 2.0 website carries.

Simple Layout

We’re seeing more simple 1- and 2-column designs than in previous years. The overall feel you get from most modern websites are simple, clean, high resolution and condensed. These pages read in a straightforward way from top to bottom, and you don’t find your eye skipping around trying to work out what to look at. It’s a much calmer and more solid browsing experience than in times gone by.

Centered Orientation

Most websites now a days are all centered in the middle of the screen. The center around the central axis. Years ago most websites enjoyed being centered around the left margin of the screen. Now with larger monitors being the norm, websites are centered around the center of the browser simply because there is plenty of room

Design the content, not the page

Good modern web designs put less energy into designing the page background and rather focus on designing the content itself. You’ll notice most modern websites will have a very ordinary background such as: a gradient, 2-tone, or white. Instead you should focus on the banners and pictures to accentuate your websites styling. Many websites are using bright or pastel colors. It is important when designing a website for Search Engine Optimization to have large amounts of content on the homepage. This is essential for ranking high.

Center Content

When the content sits in the centre of the screen, it feels up-front, confident and easy to read. It also gives a sense of simplicity and balance, which reflects the move towards clean, more Zen, design. Most Businesses like it when their client doesn’t have to scroll down to see the most important content.

OVERALL

These design tips are to help you create the best possible impression on your websites traffic. The better the impression, the better of converting an onlooker into a client. Ultimately design is only one aspect of a good website. Functionality for a business is the other key aspect. If a website isn’t converting business then you could be wasting money on hosting and online advertising. This is not functional and must be updated, redesigned or rebuilt for better conversion.
