How many ecommerce stores are actually identical? Even stores in the same industry have different customers and, thus, slightly different needs that completely change the look and feel of the store. That’s why most (if not all) eCommerce stores require extra woocommerce plugins to customize the website’s functionality.

However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make some generalizations.  While every store has different plugins, a few are so good that everyone needs to give them a peek.

Must-have ecommerce plugins

Some plugins are so good that anyone can use them. Because every website is different, your ecommerce store likely won’t need all seven plugins. However, some plugins (like Advanced custom fields) go on every website we make. Explore some of these plugins to bolster your custom ecommerce website.

1) woocommerce plugin for wordpress

Unless your website runs on Shopify, WooCommerce is absolutely mandatory. Your store literally won’t work without it.

We’ve talked about WooCommerce before, so we won’t go into too much depth. In a nutshell, the WooCommerce connects you to the WooCommerce platform: an end-to-end system that equips your website with the tools it needs to sell goods and services. Because WooCommerce is a plugin for WordPress, you can add it to your existing site or build a new one from scratch.

2) Advanced custom fields (ACF)

ACF may not be flashy, but it’s so useful that we put it on every website we build.

Never struggle to make those forms fit. With ACF, you can easily add fully custom fields at any point on your website

Between the 30 built-in fields and hundreds of user-made options, ACF allows you and your development team to customize your website’s functionality just as you need it.

This powerful tool is always worthwhile, and we highly recommend it.

3) WooCommerce TM Extra Product Options

Why try to satisfy your customers with boring default product pages when some extra spice can boost you above and beyond? TM Extra Product Options is the way to go.

TM Extra Product Options essentially allows your team to customize product pages to look just like how you need them. Add form fields, drop downs, choices, and more in one easy-to-use interface.

If your extra special products need extra special pages, this is the plugin for you.

4) WooCommerce Advanced Bulk Edit

One-product stores, this is not the plugin you’ve been looking for.

If your store has a massive inventory, making large-scale edits can be very time consuming and exhausting. That’s why WooCommerce Advanced Bulk Edit is so useful: it allows your team to edit lots of products all at once in an easy-to-use spreadsheet interface.

After selecting any number of products, you can make sweeping updates in mere seconds.

Managing your products doesn’t have to be a chore; this plugin does the work for you.

5) Variation Swatches for WooCommerce

If you sell apparel, parts, or any product with variation, Variation Swatches for WooCommerce will make your website much easier to use.

The behind-the-scenes interface is simple, usable, and heavily customizable. That way, you can make list product variations any way you want.

It’s not just for apparel! If your products vary, consider this plugin.

6) Smush image compression

Website loading speeds can make or break an entire website, so save yourself some effort and make every image as efficient as possible.

Smush Image Compression uses compression so good you can hardly notice a difference. Best of all, this little bit of compression goes a long way: it can make files twice as small!

Not only does this plugin keep images efficient, but it compresses many at once. With bulk compression, you can minimize up to 50 images at once.

Smush image compression may not be a flashy plugin, but it works brilliantly every time.

These six plugins aren’t flashy, but they’re so useful that we put them on nearly every WooCommerce website we build.

Other amazing ecommerce plugins

General plugins are great, but what about specialized ones?

Specialized plugins don’t go on every website we build because they serve a specific purpose; some websites thrive on reviews while others don’t need them as much. Thus, picking the right specialized plugin is super important.

7) Hubspot

People swear by Hubspot for a reason: it’s easily one of the best CRM/analytics plugins available. The interface is intuitive, clean, and very powerful.

A fan-favorite feature is abandoned cart recovery. If a visitor signs up without checking out their cart, Hubspot empowers you to take charge and encourage a sale.

This tool is incredibly powerful and worthwhile for most WooCommerce websites.

8) Stamped.io

Stamped.io appears in quite a few of our posts (best Shopify apps, best holiday plugins, etc), and it certainly deserves the hype: Stamped.io incentivizes reviews with excellent coupon incentives and well-made popups.

The review input fields allow many different typoes of input, leading to honest, impactful reviews that boost sales.

Fake reviews always show. Make your reviews count with Stamped.io.

9) Optinmonster

Optinmonster is an oldie, but a goldie. Your team can make brilliant custom popups with the simple drag-and-drop interface.

Once your popup is ready to go, you can set custom triggers, schedules, and more to make your marketing count.

Optinmonster is a powerful tool with so many cool features. It’s an extremely useful plugin for most WooCommerce websites.

10) CO2ok

If the environment is a big part of your brand, so too should CO2ok.

This plugin is extremely simple: if a user wants to offset the carbon emissions of transporting the product, they simply click the checkbox and pay a little extra.

It’s a simple idea, but its execution can make a brand much greener — it’s perfect for charity giftshops or green companies.

No plugin will work for every WooCommerce website, and that’s okay — there’s still a perfect set of plugins waiting out there for you. To find your match, reach out to the developers at Fyresite for a free consultation.
