Gift Party (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Shop Mini application that helps users organize gift exchanges within the Shopify Shop app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Gift Party.

1. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our gift exchange coordination service:

Information You Provide:

• Display Name: The name you choose to display to other group members
• Interests: Gift preferences and interests you select to help others find suitable gifts for you
• Avatar Selection: The avatar icon you choose for your profile
• Gift Preferences: Optional preferences such as favorite colors, clothing sizes, and product categories
• Group Membership: Which gift exchange groups you create or join
• Purchase Status: Whether you have completed purchasing a gift (not what you purchased)

Information We Do NOT Collect:

• Email addresses
• Phone numbers
• Physical addresses or shipping information
• Payment or credit card information
• Purchase history or specific items purchased
• Location data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Display your profile to other members in your gift exchange groups
• Generate random gift exchange pairings within your groups
• Show gift recommendations based on your stated interests and preferences
• Track gift purchase completion status (bought/not bought) for group coordination
• Allow group admins to manage their gift exchange groups

3. Information Sharing

Within Gift Exchange Groups:

When you join a gift exchange group, other members of that group can see:

• Your display name and avatar
• Your interests and gift preferences (to help them shop for you)
• Whether you have completed your gift purchase

We Do NOT:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Share your data with advertisers
• Use your data for targeted advertising
• Track your behavior across other apps or websites
• Share your information outside of your gift exchange groups

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:

• Data is stored on secure cloud servers (Supabase)
• All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Authentication is handled through Shopify’s secure token system
• Access to data is restricted to authenticated users within their groups

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as:

• Your account remains active
• You are a member of active gift exchange groups
• Necessary to provide our services

Group data (including pairings and purchase status) is retained until the group is deleted by its admin.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access: View all information we have about you through your profile
• Update: Modify your profile information at any time
• Delete: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Leave Groups: Remove yourself from any gift exchange group

7. Third-Party Services

Gift Party operates within the Shopify Shop app ecosystem:

• Shopify Shop App: Provides the platform, authentication, and product catalog
• Supabase: Provides secure database hosting for group and profile data

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of data.

8. Children’s Privacy

Gift Party is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. Continued use of Gift Party after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
