Price Locking Draft Orders

It’s well known that Shopify allows you to create draft orders, for both D2C and B2B merchants. But there’s more to draft orders than meets the eye. One often overlooked feature is the ability to price lock products.

Price locking products means that the price of the product in the draft order won’t change, even if you change the price of the item in the Shopify admin. This prevents products in the draft order from being raised or reduced based on changes made to the Shopify admin.

By default, all draft orders pricing is unlocked unless you specify otherwise. Once you turn on a price lock, it will apply to all the products in the draft order, including ones added after you turn the price lock on.

Price locks aren’t supported for product bundles, so if one is included in your draft order, its price cannot be locked.

Customer Discounts

It’s a common misconception that discounts are only for D2C. Often, merchants and consumers alike think that the only discounts associated with wholesale are the reduced costs of buying in bulk. But Shopify B2B has a leg up.

Common discounts like percentage or amount off, buy X get Y, and free shipping can all be created for use by B2B merchants. Reward customer loyalty and drive conversions with discounts.

Company Profiles

Merchants underestimate the power of company profiles. It’s not just a way to identify customers; it allows you to curate a customer experience for your B2B customers.

With company profiles, you can assign content permissions, payment terms, catalogs, and tax exemption. Multiple contacts and locations can be assigned to one company.

Shopify allows unlimited company profiles, with a maximum of 10,000 locations and customers. Each location can have a max of 25 catalogs and 50 customers.
