Shopify launched their B2B platform in June of 2022. Since then, Shopify has become a favorite for enterprise merchants looking to expand their B2B offerings. Part of the reason for their enduring popularity is Shopify’s commitment to constantly improving the platform. Here’s 3 updates that prove Shopify is (still) the best platform for B2B.

About Shopify B2B
Shopify B2B is only available for merchants on the Shopify Plus tier. Merchants can sell only B2B, operate B2B and D2C in two different stores, or create a blended store.

Update #1: B2B In-Store Pickup
While in-store pickup is the norm for D2C businesses, B2B businesses don’t often offer the same. This update allows merchants to set up in-store pickup for their customers.
Why We Love It
Whether you have a dedicated B2B store or a blended B2B and D2C store, you can offer your customers the option to pick their items up in-store. The flexibility allows speed and convenience for the customers, while also helping cut down on shipping costs.
Conditions
This setting is turned off by default, so B2B merchants need to contact Shopify support if they want to turn on this feature. It is currently in early access.
Update #2: Control Checkout Order Review
With this update, it’s not all or nothing any more. Merchants can choose when (and when not) a B2B order will require a review.
Why We Love It
This update allows merchants to set custom business rules to send orders that meet certain criteria to draft for review. Some of these custom business rules are
- Order value
- Cart contents
- Customer attributes
Conditions
This feature uses the Payment Customization Function API and requires the operation orderReviewAdd.
Update #3: ACH Bank Payments for B2B
This update was the one our Fyresite team was most excited about. It allows B2B merchants to accept ACH bank payments for orders.
Why We Love It
This update means Shopify merchants can enjoy the benefits of ACH bank payments. They can collect payments in a way that is safer, quicker, and often more cost effective.
Conditions
To use ACH bank payments for Shopify B2B, merchants have to meet all of the following criteria:
- Store must be in the US and accept USD
- Must have fulfilled 100+ orders
- Be on an active Shopify Plus plan
- Have completed identity verification for Shopify Payments
- Customers must have a US bank account and pay in USD
