Can you believe that we’re already halfway through 2025? Neither can we.

As the temperatures heat up, let’s take a look at what trends are blowing up in 2025 – and what old trends they’re stepping over to get to the top.

Trends We’re Seeing

Fyresite works with a variety of businesses, across websites, eCommerce stores, and apps. Here are the trends that we’ve seen blow up so far this year.

Personalization

There’s so many different businesses that a customer can shop at. If you want them to shop with you, you have to stand out. If you want a customer to remember your brand, you need to give them a personalized experience.

Here’s a few ways to add personalization to your eCommerce store:

  • Customer accounts
  • Product recommendations – bonus points if it’s based on recently viewed products
  • Incorporate customer content into your site
  • Collect customer data to give recommendations based on purchases, likes, and locations
  • AI Automation

There’s a lot that goes into running a business, so anytime a job can be automated, it gets attention. 2025 is seeing an explosion of AI automation.

One of the biggest ways we see AI being used is for chatbots. Customers expect a response from a chatbot ASAP – within 5 seconds. And while you want to connect with every customer, you can’t manage your own chat 24/7.

These are the top ways that we see AI chatbots getting used:

    • Track packages/order status
    • Schedule appointments
    • Streamline returns
    • Offer product recommendations

    Social and Generative Engine Selling

It’s not enough to design your store for your audience anymore. You have to go to them. Over the last few years, social media has become a one-stop shop for eCommerce. Users can see an ad, look for the product, and purchase all within their chosen social media platform.

Now, with the announcement that you can now buy products through ChatGPT, we’re seeing more stores optimizing their products for generative engines. Some industry experts have coined this everywhere selling, a more complete approach than omnichannel selling.

    Trends That Have Gone Extinct

No trend is evergreen. With the rise of new trends in 2025, here are old trends that they’re replacing.

    One Size Fits All Selling

ECommerce today is all about reaching out to your customers and giving them a personal touch. With this, we’re seeing the idea that “one size fits all” selling is going out the window.

One size fits all selling became popular because it only required learning one sales pitch, which they could expect to work about ¼ of the time. But this isn’t realistic anymore.

Customer research is now as important as selling is, and lets you craft effective sales strategies that are more likely to convert.

    Desktop Shopping

Desktop shopping isn’t extinct, but it’s becoming endangered. Users were already using their phones for purchases, and as social selling keeps growing, the need for desktop shopping will keep dwindling.

A mobile responsive design is required if you want to keep up with 2025 trends. While some shoppers will still be buying their goods through the desktop, you should expect this to be the exception, not the norm. Expect that your customers are using phones to contact.

“How Do You Do, Fellow Kids” Brand Marketing

Even if you’ve never watched 30 Rock, you’ve seen this Steve Buscemi meme. For a few years, it seemed that no trend could happen on Instagram or TikTok without every business trying to get in on it. The idea was to connect with their audience and appear more relatable; but it backfired.

It’s one thing to participate in memes that are relevant to your business. It shows your audience that you pay attention and are keyed in. Jumping on a trend that has no relevance to your brand? This comes off as inauthentic, and causes audiences to think of your brand and business as phoney or impersonal.

We can see in the trends for 2025 that the relationship between a brand and a consumer is key. Trying to hop on every trend is the opposite of authentic, and your audience knows that.
