As a leading web design and development agency, we get this question a lot. A website is a digital homebase for your brand, and we understand that you want the best for your business. But the best is relative, and depends on a number of factors. Use this guide to find the best for your brand.

Situations We Recommend Webflow V WordPress

There’s no one size fits all answer to any question, but there are certain situations that make us suggest Webflow or WordPress over the other. Here’s when and why we do.

When You’re a Start-Up with a Limited Budget – Webflow

Fyresite typically recommends Webflow for start-ups that are working with a limited budget. Why?

Because Webflow has an abundance of free and certified themes that allow you to build a beautiful, high-end website. If you’re working with a limited budget, it’s great because it’s incredibly easy to maintain your site without the use of an agency like Fyresite. Their user interface means that users don’t have to be a savvy web builder to maintain and upkeep your site. That saves money (and time) for start-ups that need a website.

While WordPress also has free themes, we find that these sites need more tweaking to get exactly what they are looking for, plus consistent maintenance to keep the theme looking and functioning the exact way that you want it.

When You’re Looking for Extended Functionality – WordPress

WordPress is almost synonymous with plugins, and for good reason. Using plugins is a great way to expand the functionality of your website. It makes integrations like dealer locators, SEO, and contact forms a breeze.

While Webflow does offer integrations for websites, it is nowhere near as robust and community tested as the ones that WordPress offers.

When You’re Looking for Community – WordPress

WordPress has been around since 2003 – over 20 years. With that comes an extraordinary community. The WordPress community doesn’t only exist in forums and blogs for help – WordPress is open source. This means that the source code is available to everyone, to view, use, and/or modify for no cost.
Webflow is just over a decade old, and while there are great support forums available, it doesn’t have the same wealth of information that WordPress has. Webflow is also not open source.

When You’re Looking to Get Going ASAP – Webflow

What is really amazing about Webflow is how their design and development is combined into one screen. With other platforms like WordPress, design and development are separate and require going in between two (or more) screens to make sure you are getting the look and function that you want.

This makes it much easier if you are looking to get your website up and running quickly. Your site is built and hosted directly in Webflow, and a business owner with any level of technological know-how can design a high end website.

Closing Thoughts

While there are always exceptions to the rule, we typically recommend WordPress to bigger or more established businesses that are able to dedicate the time/team to maintaining their website. We typically recommend Webflow for smaller or still-establishing businesses that need a high-end site quickly, and need to be able to maintain their sites themselves.

WordPress is great for businesses of all sizes, has an amazing CMS, is flexible and customizable, with great support. WordPress is open source, and allows users to host their website wherever they choose.

Webflow is also great for businesses of all sizes, but we typically recommend its use for smaller and emerging businesses. Webflow combines design and development into one screen, making it easy and intuitive for users, is more powerful than WordPress, and, most importantly, is easy to maintain without the use of an agency.
