Blogging is important for many brands, but Shopify merchants often don’t realize they can blog with Shopify. Here’s what you need to know about how to create and edit blog posts for your Shopify store.

How to Add a Blog to Your Shopify Store
All Shopify stores are set up with a default blog called News. From there, you have two options: editing this default blog, or adding a new one.
Adding a New Blog to Your Shopify Store
To add a new blog to your Shopify store, complete the following steps.
- Log in to your Shopify Admin
- Go to Content, then Blog Posts
- Click Add Blog
- Create a title for your blog
- Note: Titles can be up to 255 characters long
- Select how you want to manage comments
- Optional steps:
- At this step, you can select a template for your blog if you made a custom template. Otherwise, go to the next step.
- Edit search engine listing details
- While this is optional, it is recommended for best SEO performance
- Click Save
Once you’ve completed these steps, your new blog is ready to go!
How to Edit Existing Blogs on Shopify
If you’re looking to edit an existing blog, rather than creating a new one, you’ll need to follow these steps.
- Log in to your Shopify Admin
- Go to Content, then Blog Posts
- Click the name of the blog that you want to edit
- Edit any/all of the following:
- Blog title
- How comments are managed
- Custom template used
- Search engine listing details
- Click Save
How to Create a Blog Post
Creating a blog is only half the battle; you also need to know how to write blog posts to put on that blog. Here’s how to create blog posts for your Shopify blog.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Content > Blog posts.
- Click Add blog post.
- Enter a title for your blog post (up to 255 characters). A title is required to save the blog post.
- Enter the blog post content.
- In the Organization section, configure the settings for your blog post
- Author settings allows you to select the name of the author. The author can be the store owner or a staff member with admin access.
- Blog settings allows you to select the blog you want the post to be posted on. If you don’t want it on any existing blogs, you can create a new blog to post to
- Optional steps:
- Display an image for the blog landing page
- Include an excerpt from the blog on the landing page
- Add tags to your blog post
- Apply a custom theme to your post
- Edit search engine listing for your post
- Choose when you want to publish
- Select Visible to immediately publish your post
- Click the calendar icon to schedule your post
