How Complete Performances Supercharged Their Shopify Store

TL;DR

What We Shipped

Complete Performance runs CPAddict, a high-volume Ford truck parts store with over 3,000 products, but their Shopify store had buckled under years of accumulated custom code. Broken theme behaviors, navigation buried up to eight layers deep, and inconsistent product data were driving customers away and breaking their Meta and Rebuy integrations. Fyresite stepped in as their ongoing Shopify partner to stabilize the store, rebuild it on a clean and modular theme, and restructure how the entire catalog is organized and filtered.

01

Rebuilt on a Clean Theme

Cherry-picked the essential customizations into a fresh, modular theme, replacing a fragile, heavily patched build, and launched it in a single cutover.

02

Simplified Navigation

Collapsed a hierarchy nested up to eight levels deep into a streamlined All Products model with breadcrumbs and reliable filtering.

03

Normalized the Product Catalog

Mapped inconsistent, run-on tagging into structured metafields across all 3,234 products so filtering and integrations finally behave.

04

Restored Quick Buy

Fixed add-to-cart failures on products with options by restoring the native "Choose Options" flow.

05

Repaired Third-Party Integrations

Corrected the product data feeding Meta Ads catalogs and Rebuy upsells so both sync and surface correctly.

Complete Performance was facing severe technical debt and operational hurdles with their Shopify store. Primarily, general site fragility caused by a high volume of custom code that often broke standard theme behaviors and plugin compatibility.

User experience was significantly hindered by excessively deep navigation hierarchy, with sub-collections nested up to eight layers deep, leading to high customer drop-off.

These structural issues were made worse by inconsistent product tagging and filtering limitations that prevented the theme from showing products accurately.

Additionally, non-standard workarounds being used to bypass Shopify’s variant limits resulted in critical failures for third-party integrations like Meta Ads catalogs and Rebuy upsell tools.

This lack of standardization made global updates nearly impossible and forced developers to spend time untangling existing code rather than building new features.

Complete Performance needed a talented, Shopify-literate agency to optimize their Shopify store. That’s where Fyresite came in.

Our first step was to implement a phased rebuild strategy, starting with a sandbox environment to safely audit code cleanliness and test changes in isolation.

To stabilize the storefront, we initiated a theme refactor that involved picking essential customizations into a clean version of Dawn v15, effectively rebuilding the site in a more modular and organized way.

We revolutionized their navigation by consolidating the deep hierarchy into a standardized parent-child model. This shifted the user to an ‘All Products’ page supported by Shopify Search & Discovery and robust filtering.

Technical fixes addressed immediate ‘Quick Buy’ failures by restoring default theme modals and utilized Shopify Flow to automate real inventory adjustments for complex kits.

Our efforts normalized product tagging and standardized the setup methodology, ensuring seamless syncing with external marketing platforms and establishing a scalable foundation for future growth.

Custom Features

What we engineered

01

Tag-to-Metafield Mapping Engine

A bulk job that translated the legacy tagging system into structured filter metafields across the full 3,234-product catalog, adding 3,726 metafield values without disturbing existing tags.

02

Clean, Version-Controlled Theme Rebuild

A fresh theme built through GitHub and the Shopify CLI with modular sections, keeping the customizations worth saving and dropping the accumulated technical debt.

03

All-Products Filtering Model

A consolidated navigation approach routing shoppers through an all-products experience backed by Shopify Search & Discovery, with breadcrumbs and a select-all filter toggle.

04

Quick Buy Restoration

Reworked the add-to-cart condition to detect product options via metafield, so option-based products prompt selection instead of failing silently.

05

Sandbox-First Workflow

A duplicate sandbox environment for auditing code and testing every change in isolation before it reaches the live store.
