As we come to the final stretch of the main holiday season, these are the eCommerce trends that we’ve been observing (and expect to continue throughout the end of the season!)

Whether you’re looking for ideas to finish your holiday season strong, or want to know how to do even better next year, this blog will help.

Extended Holiday Deals

From eCommerce giants like Amazon all the way down, holiday sales are having longer periods this year than they did the year before. What had been the ‘cyber5’ has become the ‘cyber7’, and that’s just the start.

As consumers are looking for the best deals, companies are making extended deals to bring in the sales.

This isn’t just shown with a percentage off. Stores are also doing promotions like ‘free gift when you spend x amount’ and loyalty points to keep customers coming back even after the holidays.

Return Convenience

While in years past, convenience has been focused on purchasing, this year sees the focus shift to returns.

Customers are shopping with returns in mind. When shopping, they’re prioritizing stores and products that make it easy to return the gift. This includes stores that allow labeless returns, with multiple drop-off locations.

This trend is proof of how small eCommerce businesses are expected to meet some standards set by eCommerce titans like Amazon. Consumers have grown used to the convenience, and are looking for it when they shop.

Omnichannel Selling

You need to meet your customers where they’re at. That’s why omnichannel selling is important, especially during this holiday season.

TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formally Twitter) are all key channels that merchants are targeting this season.

Not only are they selling on these channels, they’re running exclusive deals to close the deal.

Sustainability is Key

This holiday trend has been growing steadily over the past few years. Customers are prioritizing sustainability when looking for stores this holiday season.

Customers are looking for sustainable products, shipping options, and even return options.

Consider swapping plastic wrappings for more sustainable paper, use green solutions for shipping, and even donate a percentage of sales to environmental groups.

Disappointed with Your Holiday Sales Performance?

Every year, Fyresite talks to merchants who are fed up with their holiday sales performance. They have a great store, offer great discounts, and follow the holiday trends.

Still, something is lacking.

We often find that if your holiday performance is not matching expectations, it’s one of these things:

Platform Issues

Not every platform can handle the traffic of the holiday season. Some even crash when faced with the traffic, costing you sales.

Page Speed

There are a lot of factors that go into page speed. Platform, design, even what is on the page. But you don’t have a lot of time to figure it out. The highest conversion rate occurs when a page loads in 1-2 seconds. The conversion rate drops by an average 0.3% every second it takes for your site to load. Time is money!

Design

Whether it’s the theme you’ve chosen, or you’re struggling with proper UI/UX design, design can impact sales.

Customers don’t want to stay on a site they struggle to use. If you’re noticing a high bounce rate or cart abandonment, it might be time to look into a redesign.

These common issues can be fixed. When you work with Fyresite, we will work with you to fix these problem areas, whether it means doing a platform migration, entering a CI contract, or redesigning your site to better reflect your brand.
